Previously used a PCI card: ESI Juli@ as audio interface, but a portable USB audio needed for my laptop since formatted desktop to Ubuntu. After done some research, found out Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 having positive review and recommendation from forum.

If you are getting a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 too, remember to download updated firmware: Focusrite USB 2 Driver-2.3.exe and Scarlett MixControl-1.1.exe. The more detailed user guide are available from here: Scarlett 8i6 – User Guide.pdf
I have using it for a week now, the unit perform as it should be without any problems. No latency noticed, control knob provide instant feedback, helpful Hi-Z line in (eliminate direct box), no “Pop” sound when turning it on (with monitor volume always at 3/4), useful Scarlet Plug-in and nice simple Mix Control interface. IMHO, this is currently the best you can get within the RM 1000 price range.
Below is my music demo by using Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 as audio interface. With Semi-acoustic and Bass guitar direct line-in Focusrite Scarlett 8i6. Electric guitar through Blackstar HT-1R‘s emulated output into Focusrite Scarlett 8i6.
